Towards end-February the Year 8 class went to Leslie Dam to participate in two activities under the guidance of a YMCA instructor. In the morning, students were given two challenges to solve in indoor exercises, and in the afternoon the students were required to work in teams to build rafts.

This week Year 9 Discovery students participated in an excursion to Toowoomba. It is always lovely to see students shine in different environments outside the 4 walls of a classroom.

It was a full house for the Friday night performance of the secondary students performance of the musical Mulan at the Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium.

The upper primary students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 have been learning Aikido with Chris Hulme. Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art which teaches self-defence while also protecting their attacker from injury.

The Year 9 students have had two Outdoor Education sessions with Mr Licence so far in 2019, visiting "Arborlee" near Killarney in March to learn about rainforest ecosystems and bush restoration, and travelling to Leslie Dam in February to participate in activities organised by YMCA instructors.

Grade 1 and 2 began their outdoor education in mid-June, visiting the Outdoor Education Centre at Upper Freestone with Mr Licence, Ms Namour, and French language assistant Lou Hadjad.

The Year 9 and 10 students took on a four-day Outward Bound camp in the Bald Rock and Girraween National Parks at end-April. The students acquitted themselves well, had a ball, and forged a strong and lasting bond as a result of their experiences.
